I had pre-ordered Win7 and installed it on release day. It is everything that Vista should of been. Its more stable, faster, smoother and prettier. The file transfer performance is better especially the network performance which is leaps and bounds better. It is taking me a while to get used to the new task bar. The first thing I installed was Google Chrome and Firefox. (some sites aren’t compatible with Google chrome) I recommend Win7 to everyone.

The dark knight blue Ray disc contains the main movie and 640kbit AC3 a bitrate of 23,000kbits or 26GB. Blu-Ray supports a video maximum of 40,000 kbits or 50GB. Why double the compression you have to? Release the bonus material on a seperate disc. Discs are cheap it’s the movie that is expensive! The resolution means nothing if the bitrate is low. All the blu-rays that I have seen do this trash

Star Trek Enterprise

I just finished watching the Enterprise series. I must say that I am bitter at Paramount for canceling the show even when 30 millon dollars was offered. Hell even congress tried to intervien. I was sad to see that Tripp died at least in TNG data had that less advanced model. In the alternate timeline him and Ta’pal had a son so that was cool and they had a daughter for a little while. I guess every series has had tragic death in it. DS9 had Dax die and I can’t remember voyager. I will say voyager had the worst ending of all the series. I love how they tied TNG into all the series. That was awesome. It was great to see Troi, she still looked as beautiful as ever. I will also say that Linda Park (Hoshi) was prolly my favorite, she is beautiful and I keep thinking about how good her stomach looked in the mirror universe episodes.

I just hope they have another star trek tv series. I will also say that I hate that paramount auctioned off all the star trek props and such. Then the las Vegas Hilton stopped doing the star trek them. It really made me angry. I some other studio would pick up the series from paramount and treat it right.

Seagate

I recently saw a deal where a 1.5TB seagate drive was available but I would never buy it still. I lost faith in the company when they had tons of drive failures and sid not recall them. Thier warranty also sucks, giving you a remanufatured drive as a replacemt for a failed item.

Linux on HTPC

I tried to install ubuntu on my HTPC but had no luck the video works fine right until I get into the OS then its just blank. I tired it in safe mode graphics and everything. Oh well. I was hopping to use XBMC in linux along with all the other free goodies.

My solution to this problem may simple be to purchase an Nvidia Graphics card. ATI is not friendly with Linux at all. It is annoying. It is sad that my old machine had an AMD processor and a ATI GPU now I have Intel and Nvidia. Ciest la Vie.

Overclocking my i7 core

Last night and this morning I tried to overclock my CPU. Intel has a built in turbo function that overclocks core 1 on single thread apps anyways. My cpu idles at 29C with voltage regulators at 53C. When I cranked up the cpu core voltage from 1.2 volts to 1.4 along with some other over voltages the voltage regulators idled at 78C or so. The idle cpu temp climbed to 53C. I didnt play with the settings too much and I am sure I could get it stable at 3.4Ghz (2.66 stock) but when I got the blue screen my raid 5 array had to rebuild itself and it is so huge it takes hours and hours. For now I am leaving it at stock settings, everything is fast enough for me and I like the stability. When I encode 4 videos at once with megui it runs plenty fast. At stock settings my CPU has not seen a temp over 68C at full load with ambient temp of 23C. Zalman FOR THE WIN!
